Ideas for game

Player Goals

1. Keep enemies from getting to a point (doorway, path) or passing entirely through level.

Enemies emerge from a starting point or area of the level and try to get
to the other side or end of level. In the case of the doorway enemies can
emerge from many parts of the level (three sides) and try to get to the doorway
on the fourth side. If too many enemies reach the other side or all four
players die the game is over. Dead players can be revived by the other
players. Turrets constructed by players are used to stop or kill enemies.
They can be strategically placed almost anywhere in order to stop the
enemies, but they must be protected also because they can be destroyed.
Maybe turrets can't be destroyed but need to be moved or repaired sometimes.
Certain enemies just run to the other side without doing anything else (they
don't attack), while others attack players and turrets. The enemies that
attack don't try to get to the other side. They are more like decoys or
distractions. Players can attack enemies head on (almost always necessary) or
they can control turrets and set traps. Players win when time has run out or
all the enemies have been defeated.

2. Protect something

Same as #1 except object(s) needed to be protected is attacked by some enemies and
is located at one or various spots in the level. Maybe the object changes position
or is moving across the level to a destination. Enemies emerge from all sides of
the level. Certain enemies attack object while others attack players and turrets.
Game is over when object is destroyed, carried away or all four players die. Players
win when time runs out, all enemies are destroyed or, if the case, the object reaches
its destination. Objects could be townspeople, power source from other realm, a being
from other realm (moves slowly if at all) or a gate to the rest of town.

3. Destroy all enemies (close enemy portal)

Players simply try to destroy enemies which attack from all four sides of level.
Enemies can try to open other portals (to let other enemies enter level) or attack players
and turrets. Not as much focus on turret strategy since enemies run around entire level
and attack pretty much anything. Turrets can be destoryed. Players keep enemies from opening
portals. Game is over when all players are dead or incapacitated. Players win when time runs
out, all enemies are destoryed or all portals are closed.

4. Stay alive

Same as #3 except enemies don't attack turrets, only the players. Players must work together
to protect each other until time runs out or all enemies are destroyed. Game is over when all
players are dead. If a player(s) die or are incapacitated then others can (or must) revive them.
During this time the remaining players have a special advantage so they won't be overrun so easily.
Maybe they temporarily absorb the energy or powers of fallen players.
